Tommy Christo is a Greek business man who was born and raised in Alexandria 1891 and used to live there.

He founded “Corona” in Ismailia 1919.

Later on, the factory moved to Alexandria, Boualino Street in Moharram Bek. 

In the 30s of the last century, Corona moved to its current headquarters on the Canal Mahmudiyah.

 1963, Corona got nationalized and Engineer Mohamed Rashad Zaki was appointed Chairman of the Board .

 As part of the nationalization decree, Nadler Confectionery, Corona & Al-Hawamdiya Factory were merged under the name of Alexandria Chocolate and Confectionery Co. (Corona).

 In the context of economic reformation and privatization, Corona Company was sold to Sami Saad Group in 2000 and ever since then it is managed and owned by Sami Saad holding”

One of the key icons of the company is Corona Gazelle
Which is reflected as a key icon on the chocolate range, this Gazelle carries a story which is when the Greek chocolatier Tommy Christo built his chocolate factory there, nearby there was a football pitch, where the workers would often play matches against each other. And on the grounds lived a gazelle, which became tame, and was befriended by all the workers. One sad day it was hit by the ball and died. Tommy, the owner, grieved over the soft gazelle, and made it the mark of his chocolate factory, and mounted a statue at the entrance.
